Serge Belamant is the founder of a financial technology company named NET1 Technologies. NET1 Technologies was founded in 1989. Since then the financial company has grown to be worth 180 million dollars. The problem Serge Belamant was facing is that a paper claimed that he had committed government malfeasance. NET1 had bought a cash payment company called Cash Payment Services. The paper had said that the cash payment company had exploited the South African government’s tender, but that wasn’t true. The tender was rendered to the cash payment company. The author of the paper didn’t contact Serge Belamant before doing the paper if he had it would have saved a lot of heartache.
Serge Belamant had founded many other companies not just NET1 Technologies. He is the creator of some blockchain technologies that have lead to cryptocurrencies. He was born in France but moved to South Africa when he was 14. While there he learned English. After high school, Mr. Belamant went to the University of the Witwatersrand to study engineering, but he decided to switch majors in the second year at the university. He chose computer sciences and applied mathematics. During his third year at that university, Mr. Belamant switched universities. Mr. Belamant started his journey in the workforce at the age of 22. He got a job at Matrix which an engineering company. While there he developed compound computer systems. He found a way to analyze water levels in dams. Later he got a job at Bancorp where he was a risk consultant. In the 1980s, Mr. Belamant developed ATMs that ran on a special computer system. After he had founded NET1, Visa had hired the company to construct a new system for them based on his technology. In 2018, Mr. Belamant went to London. While in London, he founded Zilch Technology Limited. Zilch Technology Limited uses his technology to help the banking systems there and developing new blockchain technology.
